XX travels to MeXXico!

XX travels to MeXXico!

We have been invited to perform XX: Where’s the Power? and lead a laboratory titled “Collaborative Performance Making” at the international performance festival Performática in Puebla, Mexico.

Performática’s goal is to facilitate international and intercultural exchange of practices, knowledge, theory and culture around contemporary discourse of body movement, expression, and philosophy. Hosted on the campus of the Universidad De Las Américas Puebla and surrounding sites in the towns of San Andrés Cholula and Puebla, Performática will take place March 11-17, 2018.

We have been awarded a Career Advancement Grant funded by Colorado Creative Industries and National Endowment for the Arts, and an Eaton Graduate Student Travel Grant. These sources cover only half of our expenses. The Career Advancement Grant requires a 1:1 cash match. We still need to raise $2,500 to match the grant, and WE NEED YOUR HELP! Your support combined with these grants will cover airfare for us four (plus now a nine month old!), housing, food, and artist fees.

The dance field within Colorado is a small market with few artists visible on the national (and even international) scene. Participating in Performática will give XX visibility among our colleagues in an international forum. Our goal is that the networking and exchange will lead to invitations to tour our work, guest teaching opportunities, and creative residencies outside of Colorado. Sharing our work and teaching at Performática, and creating relationships with international thinker-mover-artists will lay the foundation for future possibilities.
